Phil Phelan: Assistant Director of Nursing Services.
Phil specialises in Psychiatric Nursing and qualified in 1979. Phil has worked as a Psychiatric Nurse with the HSE at all levels and during this period she also worked in Care of the Elderly. She completed her Preceptorship Course in 2004 and her Management Training in 2005. Phil joined the team at Drakelands House in April 2012 and works directly with the Directors and Management Team to oversee the care and welfare of all the Residents at Drakelands House. Phil completed her Leadership Training in 2018 and Wound Management with the RCSI and Palliative Care Training in 2017. Phil is registered as a nurse with NMBI
Patricia White: Clinical Nurse Manager.
Patricia is a native of Kilkenny and trained as a General Nurse in the North Infirmary Hospital, Cork. She completed her Gerontology in 2012 and her Wound Care Management with RSCI in 2016. She worked for a number of years in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny gaining valuable experience in various departments. Patricia joined the team here in Drakelands House Nursing Home as a Staff Nurse in 2012 and entered into her role of Clinical Nurse Manager in 2015. Patricia works with the Management Team to direct the medical and nursing care at Drakelands House and shares the Management Team’s vision for the provision of outstanding care to the Residents. She also completed her Leadership Training in 2018. Patricia is registered as a Nurse with NMBI.
Kerry McElligott: Accounts Manager and Administration.
Kerry joined the team at Drakelands House in March 2011. Kerry completed her Secretarial Course in 1988 and qualified as an Accounting Technician with the Accounting Technicians of Ireland in 2012 and has gained over 25 years of experience in administration including payroll, personnel, legal and accounts working in Ireland, England and New Zealand. Kerry works directly with the Directors in accounts management and administration.
Mairead Shortall: Operations Supervisor, Senior Health Care Assistant, Trainer & Risk Management Officer.
Mairead joined the Team at Drakelands House in March 2012. Initially employed as a Health Care Assistant, Senior Health Care Assistant she is now Operations Supervisor, Trainer and Risk Management Officer. She has worked in the caring profession for many years completing her training in the National Children’s Hospital, she worked with the Irish Nursing Services travelling all over Ireland and the U.K. Mairead was self-employed for over 10 years and brings additional experience in communications, work practises, infection control and HACCP. She is a trained Trainer and Manual Handling Instructor and provides in-house training in Manual Handling, Infection Control, End of Life Care and Induction Training. Mairead works directly with the Directors and the Management Team to ensure the care and welfare of the Residents through training and the supervision of operations of the House.
Karen Moloney – Senior Chef and Manager Catering Department
Karen gained the City and Guilds of London Institute 706/1 and 706/2 cooking for the Catering Industry and HACCP for the Catering Industry. Karen joined our team at Drakelands House Nursing Home in October 2016 having spent 14 years in a local reputable dining establishment. She is responsible for all Nutritional & Dietary requirements of the residents, all catering operations, HACCP and staff training in food handling, kitchen hygiene and HACCP. Karen works with the Directors and the Management Team to ensure the Nutritional requirements of the residents are met at all times.
Denise Drennan: Activities Co-Ordinator.
Denise joined the team at Drakelands House in August 2013. She completed her FETAC Care of the Elderly Course in 2012. Initially employed as a Health Care Assistant Denise also worked as part-time Activities Co-Ordinator until taking up the full time role of Activities Co-Ordinator in September 2018. Denise completed her SONAS Course in January 2019 and will continue to develop her skills in this role. She will complete training in Imagination Gym in 2019. Denise also completed Level 5&6 Special Needs Assistant and Enhancing Quality of Life through Meaningful Activities with Persons with Dementia Training in March 2018. Denise works closely with the Management Team to ensure the Residents engage in meaningful activities as they so choose.
